How you measure the height for your new ramp.
Measuring the height for a ramp can be tricky.
Here is how you measure the height of you step. The slope of a ramp can be determined by dividing its rise (vertical height) by its run (horizontal distance). This calculation gives you the gradient or slope as a fraction or a percentage.
Mathematically, the formula for calculating the slope of a ramp is:
Slope = Rise / Run
Where:
- Rise refers to the vertical height or the change in elevation of the ramp.
- Run represents the horizontal distance or length of the ramp.
The greater the gradient or slope, the steeper the ramp will be. A higher slope value indicates a more significant incline or steepness.
We have recently got a delivery of Ramp-O-Meter. They come in very handy when trying to measure the step.
Measuring the Threshold
- Place the ramp-o-meter as below, with the ruler perpendicular to the edge.
2. Hold it in push the ruler to the ground.
3. Read the height of the ramp which is visible in the middle of the small holes.
4. If two numbers are clearly visible, choose the lowest one.
